Various business figureheads won awards at the event last week
Road Freight New South Wales (RFNSW) has announced its annual award winners at its national conference held in Sydney last week.
The conference brought together the freight and transport industry to crown the best drivers, groups and businesses.
The winner of the professional driver of the year award was Formula Chemicals’ David Muir, who won the award for his “impeccable attendance record” and for “always being more willing to go the extra mile to keep customers happy”, according to RFNSW.
Muir is 24 years accident-free and has gone 19 years without a traffic infringement notice, making him a worthy recipient of the RFNSW award.
Mangan Haulage took home the best safety culture award for demonstrating a commendable commitment to developing and maintaining the highest practicable standards of health, safety and welfare.
RFNSW says the owners at Mangan Haulage work to meet legislative requirements and communicate safety as one of its four core business values, while actively training employees in safety and mental health.

Sally Tipping from Tipping’s Transport won the woman of the year award for her ability to take over a struggling business and turn it into a successful and resilient group.
Having been an accredited member of TruckSafe and NHVAS since 2004, her work in founding the ‘Wave to a Truckie’ driver mental health campaign in 2019 was a catalyst behind her win.
Lastly, Rebecca Neilsen from Holcim won the outstanding contribution to the transport industry award following her senior roles across logistics, training and safety.
According to RFNSW, her focus on business integrity and safety to customers and employees makes her a worthy winner, as she has developed hundreds of training programs for the transport sector, leading to a greater level of safety and compliance.
