FTA to make WA taskforce submission

The supply chain taskforce is now open to FTA submissions

The Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) says it’s been approached by the Western Australia Shipping and Supply Chain taskforce to make a submission into its supply chain investigation.

The resilience and utility of the shipping industry serving WA investigation was established after the WA government formed the supply chain taskforce in March to address issues affecting the state’s supply chain.

The shipping and supply chain of WA were both severely impacted when the Trans-Australian freight rail route was impacted by flooding earlier this year, resulting in supermarkets lacking critical supplies.

The WA government also instructed the taskforce to help devise a rebuild of the strategic national shipping fleet and provide solutions to the supply chain issues experienced in the state.

The WA government sees the focus on supply chain risks and responsiveness as critical for the state due to its isolation from eastern states and international trading partners.

The taskforce is being co-chaired by Jessica Stojkovski and Kyle McGinn, with support from the WA Department of Transport.

The FTA is now calling all people who wish to include their thoughts in the FTA submission to respond to them by close of business on Monday April 25.

All details on the review and how to submit to the FTA is available on their website.

Submissions won’t be publicly released by the taskforce or the WA government.
