Navia in WA expansion with Keys purchase

Complementary skills and abilities seen in combined businesses

A solid example of consolidation has occurred in the Australian forwarding and logistics sector with Navia acquiring Western Australian’s Keys Freight & Logistics.

The move, for an undisclosed sum, gives Melbourne-headquartered Navia a Perth presence to go with its international freight forwarding and customs brokerage with offices internationally in Auckland, Chicago, Penang and Budapest and locally in Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne.

Keys founder Cos Breglia will continue to lead the team in Perth, and joins the leadership team at Navia.

“Keys Freight identified that both technology and scale are necessary to support its future growth,” Breglia said, in addressing the logic of the move.

“Navia, meanwhile, has a world-beating technology suite, as well as the scale of a larger entity.

“Navia had voiced ambitions to enter the Western Australian market, and it quickly became apparent that Keys Freight joining the Navia network would provide the solutions both companies desired.”

Formed in 2003, Navia is a full-service freight and logistics company.

It has a strong focus on tech-based solutions – its NaviaHub platform supply chain solution includes apps and dashboards for online bookings, tracking and supply-chain metrics.

“Keys Freight and Logistics is very much a hometown hero, and the team Cos leads are experts who are passionate about the customer experience,” Navia CEO and founder Simon Borg.

“With Navia’s technological capabilities, the core values we share and the complementary skills and abilities of the combined businesses, this expansion will turbocharge our growth in this and other markets.

“It will also provide our staff with exciting opportunities to advance their careers within an expanded organisation.”

Keys was founded in 2015 and the company’s core business is logistics, arranging the transportation and clearance of commercial cargo – including e-commerce. It provides Customs clearance, warehousing and interstate transport.
