Position vacated as Hilton becomes regional CEO and MD
International stevedore DP World has revealed executive leadership changes in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
CEO and MD of Australia Glen Hilton has taken on an expanded role as CEO and MD of the DP World Asia-Pacific and Australasia and has vacated his earlier position.
In addition, Hilton assumes the role of chairman of DP World Australia (DPWA).
Andrew Adam has taken over as DP World Australia CEO after several years as chief operating officer (COO) of the business.
Adam has more than 25 years’ experience in executive leadership roles across both the ports and container terminals and rail intermodal industries.
These roles also include senior vice president, global operations at DP World and president, freight, at Pacific National.
“Andrew’s understanding of both DP World’s Australian and Global businesses is un-matched, and he has played a critical role in ensuring the ongoing strength and efficiency of our Australian business over recent years,” Hilton says
DP World says Adam brings to the role “a strong commercial acumen and decisive leadership – strengths honed across nearly three decades of experience working within the industry, these will be invaluable as DP World Australia progresses through its next chapter of growth”.

Port haulage organisation Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) welcomed the executive moves saying that, since Adam re-joined DPWA two and half years’ ago under the then incoming Hilton, the landside logistics sector had enjoyed closer relationships in the DP World executive and terminal management.
“Andrew was able to negotiate the finalisation of DPWA’s new enterprise agreement with the unions, something that the other container stevedoring companies have yet to achieve, with industrial unrest again looming,” CTAA director Neil Chambers says.
“Also, DP World terminals across Australia have fared relatively well in managing berth congestion during the Covid import surge from mid-2020, weather events and vessel service disruptions.
“CTAA looks forward to continuing to work closely with Andrew and his team to improve the productivity and efficiency of the landside interfaces at all DP World terminals in Australia.
“We also wish Glen Hilton well in his elevated role in managing DP World’s businesses and interests across the Asia Pacific and Australasia region, and his role as chairman of DP World Australia.”
