Port of Melbourne taps former Linfox and Toll executive

Shaun Mooney enlisted as executive general manager, commercial

 

Former Linfox and Toll Group executive Shaun Mooney has been appointed Port of Melbourne’s executive general manager, commercial.

Mooney has oversight of property and business development and reports to CEO Brendan Bourke.

He was most recently general manager commercial projects at Linfox, and before that spent 18 years at Toll in a variety of roles in finance and commercial, domestic forwarding, and global automotive and industrials.


Mooney was also chair of rail freight firm Bowmans


In a statement Port of Melbourne says Mooney brings expertise to the delivery of itsstrategic objectives, including optimising on-port productivity and increasing capacity to respond to demand growth.

Bourke welcomes Mooney’s experience in global freight and logistics to the Port’s commercial operations.

“Shaun will play a vital role in helping us balance the challenges of our immediate operating environment with the long-term projects that will drive our growth,” he says.

Mooney says he looks forward to joining at a time when supply chain infrastructure is central to Australia’s economic rebuild.

“Port of Melbourne has been critical in keeping Australia moving during this Covid pandemic, and it’s clear it will play a vital role as we transition to post-Covid life,” he says.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing my experience in financial, commercial, operational and general management to Australia’s largest capital city port.”

Mooney’s tenure starts on July 20.
