Aramex confident sector can handle recovery

Covid-19 lockdown leads to big past two months for courier firm

Aramex Australia insists the national transport and logistics sector is well placed to handle an expected jump in business as the recovery begins.

With prime minister Scott Morrison signalling a three step initial easing of anti-Covid-19 controls, including reopening retail and small cafes and restaurants, and the focus shifts to Australia’s economic recovery, the courier enterprise believes T&L has never been more important.

“We know many businesses are preparing to reopen their doors and get back to work,” Aramex Australia CEO Peter Lipinski says.

“Logistics is going to be crucial to a successful recovery for Australia.

“As retail, hospitality venues and other businesses begin to reopen, we expect to see a significant spike in delivery across the nation

“Our national and international Aramex network is fully operational. We are ready to meet the increase in demand as Australia commences its road to recovery.”

The Aramex Australia business reports a record increase in deliveries in recent months with over 30 per cent more than this time last year.

“Our 800 plus courier franchisees delivering across 28 regional franchise networks, have adapted to the new landscape in recent months and have been going above and beyond every day to deliver the goods that Australians need during these challenging times,” Lipinski adds.

“Our couriers have been there for customers throughout the challenging social distancing measures and we look forward to continuing to support our customers in the next stage of recovery.”

The firm reports a busy lockdown period, revealing it recorded a 30 per cent increase in delivery volumes during March and April year on year, as social distancing measures bit.

Deliveries over the past two months include more than 2,700,000 rolls of toilet paper, 2,300,000 cans of dog food and 1,700,000 bottles of wine.
