Adelaide DC operational as Qube links with The Melt and Perpetual Resources
Logistics giant Qube has shed light on recent company developments, including the completion of an Adelaide warehouse and forging new industry partnerships.
The construction of a new 10,000sqm warehouse at Outer Harbour, South Australia, was finalised late last year and has been in action over the new year.
“In less than four weeks of operation, Qube has handled in excess of 500 containers through the new facility and is holding over 5,000 pallets in the facility for both import and export customers with the capacity to hold more,” the firm says in a statement.
“The facility has both wall and roof insulation, making some of the recent warmer South Australian days far more comfortable for both staff and cargo.”

Qube also announced it is working alongside Australia’s first industrial prototyping lab, The Melt, “to deliver exciting innovation to our customers and operations”.
Officially opened by then-prime minister Malcolm Turnbull, The Melt helps develop and build hardware products for “next tech” manufacturing and engineering.
“The Melt is an excellent concept and will assist Qube in accelerating our innovation pipeline,” Qube Group CIO Ray Connell says.
“We look forward to prototyping, piloting and launching products that will drive the efficiency of our operations and improve our customer experience.”
Qube also signed an agreement with fellow listed firm Perpetual Resources toundertake a project to end user transport and materials handling solution for the latter’s silica sands operations.
In an ASX announcement, Perpetual spotlights Qube’s port presence, particularly Geraldton Port, and the Beharra Project supporting Qube’s decision to invest and release further value to the Midwest Port and region.

“We look forward to working closely with Qube to understand the optimal pathway to transport our potentially high-purity silica sand products to end user markets.”
