Mainfreight unveils new Sydney warehouse

New food grade and dangerous goods certified 3PL logistics centre to begin operations soon

 

Mainfreight has announced the opening of its new logistics centre in Prestons, News South Wales.

The new Kookaburra site consolidates the company’s two older warehouses – Mainfreight Logistics Erskine Park and Mainfreight Logistics Moorebank.

The new warehouse features 13,000 metre square each of food-grade space, and dangerous and hazardous goods area, with 27,000 racking spaces, 3,500 additional satellite racking spaces and 16 rear loading docks.

The new site also has HACCP certification, customs and excise licensing for alcohol (bonded storage) and Class 1.3 AQIS certification.

Other location features include: 4,000 metre square of enclosed breezeway, 900 metre square of office space, over 2,000 metre square of mezzanine area and 99kw solar power system.

Located just off the M7 at 55 Yarrunga St, Prestons, the new warehouse is also close to Mainfreight’s transport and logistics supersite.

“The close proximity between these two sites has helped strengthen our Sydney warehousing operations by minimising handling and reducing lead times within our network,” the company states.

The official opening of the new warehouse will take place on March 25.
