Pacific National starts search for new CEO

Irwin to vacate post but may stay on in advisory role

Pacific National is looking for a new CEO with present incumbent David Irwin stepping down but with a board request that he remain on the management team.

Irwin has committed to stay through the executive search process and the board had requested that he stay on as an advisor, a Pacific National spokesperson tells ATN.

The search is expected to take months with the outcome possibly unknown until the second half of the calendar year.

The move, reportedly for family reasons, comes six months after the rail firm was hived off after the takeover and division of Asciano.

It was flagged in the financial press, with the Australian Financial Review reporting Global Infrastructure Partners executive Russell Smith, the former Port of Brisbane CEO, to arrive at the rail firm as executive chairman.
