ALC Forum to focus on national freight strategy

The two-day event will be held in Melbourne from March 8-9

The Australian Logistics Council (ALC’s) 2017 Forum will focus on the required content of the National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy.

The two-day event will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from March 8-9.

The event will bring together a number of senior logistics industry and government representatives to discuss the development of the strategy, which was announced by prime minister Malcolm Turnbull in his annual infrastructure statement last year.

ALC has been a long-term advocate of the freight strategy.

“Completing a National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy was ALC’s core recommendation in our 2016 election priorities document, Getting the Supply Chain Right,” ALC MD Michael Kilgariff says.

“ALC Forum 2017 is the first chance for industry and government to meet and talk about this important strategy” Mr Kilgariff said.

“The discussions at this year’s Forum will form the basis of ALC’s policy dialogue and advocacy as the National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy is developed over the next 12 months.”

Some of the speakers include:

  • Infrastructure Australia CEO Philip Davies
  • Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development secretary Mike Mrdak
  • WA Department of Transport director general Richard Sellers
  • Port of Melbourne CEO Brendan Bourke
  • NSW Ports CEO Marika Calfas
