International player Röhlig Logistics has appointed Des Hammond as its new chief financial officer for Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney.

The move is part a change in the firm’s global structure to one of divisional responsibility.

"By making these changes, Rohlig will be able to develop new products faster and respond more effectively to the global demands of clients," the company says.

"With these changes Rohlig can achieve stronger joint market development of Rohlig Australia and New Zealand."

Educated at the University of Leeds and holding a BA in Accounting and Finance, Hammond is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

With more than 18 years’ of experience in the financial sector, he has worked in corporate, academic, and consulting roles, including positions at PWC, the University of New South Wales, and William Hill.

His main responsibility will be to develop a strategy to streamline finance processes in order to maximise output and efficiencies.

"Good logistics at its core is about seeking to improve efficiencies and service," Rohlig Australia managing director Hany Amer says.

"With Des utilising his skills in this area, Rohlig has the opportunity to pursue further improvements with a leader of proven experience.
