NewCold to open new facility in Victoria

The Dutch company is planning to expand its business across the Asia-Pacific region

NewCold has announced a new Asia-Pacific warehouse facility to be built in Truganina, Victoria.

The Netherlands-based company’s new Australian facility will also serve as its headquarters as it expands business across the Asia-Pacific region with countries including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

“We are delighted to announce that we have chosen Melbourne, Victoria as the home of NewCold’s Asia Pacific headquarters and our first cold storage facility in the Southern Hemisphere,” NewCold executive VP Bram Hage says.

“Our Melbourne operations will play a critical role in driving NewCold’s expansion throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific region.”

The company says the new site will use high-level automation and oxygen reduction fire safety technology and install latest energy-conserving systems.

Industry and employment minister Wade Noonan says the new facility will create 127 full-time jobs in Victoria.

The facility is expected to be completed by 2017.
