The new Aramex-Australia Post joint venture intends to tap into the growing e-commerce market in Asia
Aramex is planning to sell its Sydney-based Mail Call Couriers business to Australia Post, as part of a new Asia-focussed e-commerce joint venture with the latter.
Part of the proposed deal is to sell Aramex’s Sydney-based Mail Call Courier, the business it bought in 2014, to Australia Post’s StarTrack Courier.
The new partnership will then acquire Australia Post’s StarTrack International global e-commerce postal business, with an aim to tap in the growing e-commerce market in Asia.
“We are delighted to announce this joint venture with Australia Post, and we look forward to combining our resources and expertise to build a compelling global e-commerce delivery platform,” Aramex CEO Hussein Hachem says.
Australia Post MD Ahmed Fahour says the joint venture with Aramex will help the Australian postal company grow its e-commerce footprint.
“This alliance with Aramex will help us grow the Australian e-commerce market, capturing more inbound e-commerce parcel volumes and will provide a platform for outbound growth, particularly for Australian small businesses,” Fahour says.
