DHL announces new global freight chief
Tim Scharwath.

Global logistics giant DHL Group has a new global forwarding and freight division CEO after current Kuehne + Nagel executive Tim Scharwath accepted the role this week.

Scharwath, who will assume the position in 12 months, has been a member of the management board responsible for global airfreight at fellow logistics company Kuehne + Nagel International AG since 2011 and has held a number of positons across Europe for the company over a 20-year period.

"We are very pleased that Tim Scharwath will become a member of the board of management, taking over responsibility for our global forwarding and freight division," Deutsche Post DHL Group CEO Frank Appel says.

"He comes with an impressive freight forwarding track record, and is ideally placed to continue the encouraging progress we start to see in our forwarding businesses, and which we will steadily grow over the years."

Until Scharwath takes over the role, Appel will retain responsibility for the division.

The changes will not affect the DHL road transport CEO Amadou Diallo, who holds on to his portfolio.
