Orora offers transport add on through AHG

Strategic partnership means the trucks that cart produce off farms will also bring packaging materials direct from the manufacturer

Customers of packaging manufacturer Orora Limited could soon have their transport needs also covered by the listed company.

In a new strategic partnership, Orora has signed up AHG Refrigerated Logistics to supply transport services and storage to its fruit and produce customer base around Australia.

Orora supplies cost-effective corrugated cartons to the Australian fruit and produce sector, but from today will also offer customers additional services including temperature controlled logistics.

It says AHG will provide a “comprehensive logistics infrastructure” with the capability to collect and protect fresh produce throughout the transport chain.

Orora CEO Nigel Garrard says AHG has an extensive road and rail fleet, as well as cold stores in all capital cities.

“Orora and AHG can now offer our fruit and produce customers an end-to-end packaging solution for their produce, from carton to market in pristine condition,” Garrard says.

“Orora strives to be a customer-led provider of innovative packaging solutions, and this partnership with AHG is a significant step in that journey.”

The AHG group has several companies under its umbrella, including Rand, Harris, Scott’s Refrigerated Freightways, and JAT.

The vast majority of work in the strategic partnership will be completed by JAT.
