New Queensland headquarters for Aurizon

Brisbane-based company commissions 19,000 square metre office tower in Fortitude Valley

Aurizon has announced it will consolidate its two Brisbane office locations into a single headquarters in three years’ time.

The new national head office will be constructed on a site at Ann Street in Fortitude Valley, just a few kilometres from the Brisbane central business district.

Aurizon will be the sole tenant in the office tower to be built on a site previously owned by the Anglican Church.

With construction beginning in March, the building will offer 19,000 square metres of office space, with a large conference centre and an outdoor terrace.

It will be owned by commercial property investment fund Charter Hall, with Aurizon taking on a 12-year initial lease.

Aurizon CEO Lance Hockridge says current property markets offered an ideal time to invest in a purpose-built facility that would bring more Aurizon staff together.

“It was also abundantly clear that our brief was much more than finding a suitable physical space for our corporate headquarters,” Hockridge says.

“We needed to create competitive advantage as an employer of choice with a built environment that supported our drive to greater diversity, inclusiveness and collaboration across our workforce.

“The location provides a range of benefits for the company and our employees, including excellent surrounding amenity, first class facilities, proximity to public transport and major transport networks, and accessibility to our major customers.”

Aurizon is planning to relocate to the new digs in 2018.
