DHL’s logistics arm DHL Supply Chain has begun work on two new warehouses in Sydney to accommodate growing demand from the consumer, retail and healthcare industries.

The facilities, encompassing 58,225 square metres, will be completed next May and expand on the company’s four existing facilities in the Oakdale Industrial Estate, Horsley Park.

With a total footprint of 148,000 square metres, managing director of DHL Supply Chain Australia Saul Resnick says the company’s Western Sydney location will provide new jobs and opportunities for client expansion.

"These two new facilities will expand on DHL Supply Chain’s existing presence in Sydney’s Horsley Park, and offer around 220 new jobs in the area," Resnick says.

"DHL continues to support growth, greater employment opportunity and improved infrastructure in Western Sydney, which is fast becoming an important hub for logistics.

"With over 58,000 square metres of new warehousing, over 22,000 square metres of which will be temperature controlled, we are in a strong position to grow our client base in some of the most state-of-the-art facilities in the country."

The first development will be a 27,145 square metre building comprising of a warehouse, two-storey office and 151 parking spaces.

The second, and larger space, will provide 31,080 square metres and will be consumed by a warehouse and distribution facility, two-storey office and 200 car parks.

The development will be undertaken by Goodman, who will also update the connecting Old Wallgrove Road to improve access to the facilities.
