Aurizon renews Queensland coal deals with mines
Aurizon has won a 10-year renewal of a key coal haulage contract

Aurizon has renewed and extended its haulage contract with the Dawson and Callide coal mines in Queensland.

It has a signed a new-form 10 year deal with the Dawson mine’s joint owners Anglo American and Mistui.

The deal also covers work for the Callide mine – which is owned outright by Anglo American.

"Anglo American and Mitsui are valued customers and Aurizon is delighted to renew its long-term relationship for the Dawson and Callide mines," commercial director Mauro Neves says.

"We understand the challenges in the current market and Aurizon has worked hard to provide a competitive, flexible contract to meet Anglo American's and Mitsui’s requirements."

The new performance-based deal, which took immediate effect after yesterday’s signing, came after a competitive process in which several rail companies bid for the haulage volumes.
