Downer EDI signs rail agreement with Pacific National

Downer EDI will provide maintenance services under a 10-year $1 billion deal.

Downer EDI has struck a new billion-dollar deal with rail operator Pacific National to provide asset maintenance services over the next decade.

Downer EDI CEO Grant Fenn says the 10-year agreement includes a range of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services and a 24-hoiur fleet control centre to look after Pacific National’s rolling stock.

Fenn says the $1 billion deal is an important development in Downer’s push to provide total rail asset services to its customers.

“Under the agreement, Downer will provide a full suite of asset management services for over 300 Pacific National locomotives,” Fenn says.

“The new features of the agreement include remote monitoring of the assets and inspections while in service to ensure more locomotives are available for service, the locomotives are out on the tracks for longer hours and that they run at higher levels of reliability.”
