Yusen Logistics expands in Sydney

Company’s sixth Sydney warehousing facility will be dedicated to work for an unnamed US client.

Yusen Logistics Australia has opened a new warehousing facility in the western Sydney suburb of Greystanes.

The 12,500 square-metre facility opened on January 5 this year and was established specifically for a major US retailer.

Yusen Logistics Australia managing director Ian Pemberton says the new warehouse has been built in line with the company’s three year growth strategy.

“[It] demonstrates our commitment to increase the range of international clients to whom we provide supply chain solutions,” he says.

The new property represents a capital investment of more than $2 million and will employ an additional 25 staff once operating at its full capacity of 18,500 pallets.

Yusen Logistics has 12 offices in Australia and employs 420 people in its international freight forwarding, customs clearance, and contract logistics businesses.

It forms part of the wider Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha Group, based in Tokyo.
