Crown Equipment takes over production of forklift engines

Crown Equipment to manufacture forklift engines internally

Material handling company Crown Equipment has announced it will manufacture its 2.4 litre LPG forklift engines internally, and will no longer have them supplied by John Deere.

Crown say that the integrated manufacturing model that it uses enables it to better maintain a level of control and consistency.

“It’s a forward-thinking culture that Crown embraces globally, and has resulted in competitive differentiation for the Crown lift trucks customer experience,” Crown Equipment president Jim Dicke III says.

The engines will be built out of Crown’s 165,500 square foot facility in Ohio, which recently received the proper International Organisation for Standards (ISO) certifications it required.

Once built, the engines will be used in the Crown C-5 Series of forklifts.

“We invest in training and sophisticated manufacturing technology to ensure that quality and precision are built into each step of the process. As a result, our customers know that the forklift they receive isn’t just a Crown forklift on the outside. It’s a Crown forklift on the inside, too. And this is a difference our customers value,” Dicke adds.
