CILTA launches professional development directory

Online resource aimed at current and aspiring managers and professionals

CILTA launches professional development directory
CILTA's directory will be launched officially at its awards

The Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics Australia (CILTA) has released an online Professional Development Directory for transport and logistics professionals.

The Directory, developed by CILTA over the last year, includes courses from certificate to Masters level, as well as short courses.

It is aimed as current and aspiring managers and professionals along the freight and passenger supply chains, as well as defence and regulatory sectors.

Of the 80,000 managers and professionals in the supply chain in Australia, a small but growing number have professional qualifications.

"The growth of transport and logistics in the economy requires greater sophistication by professionals who manage all sectors of the supply chain," CILTA chair Andrew Stewart says.

"CILTA is stepping up its activity in encouraging professionals to do more updating and learning of new management techniques and systems.

"This is part of a global trend and fits into the global effort to lift continuing professional development across the CILT network.

"Some of these courses are delivered by webinars and online to enable professionals to upgrade their skills while working.

"We see great growth in this area as managers need to quickly get an understanding of new technology, trends and techniques to boost the efficiency of their business.

"As an active, online resource, CILTA is able to add courses continuously as they are developed and offered. And we will also be able to offer relevant courses developed and certified by other CILT territories around the world."

For CILTA members, their learning through these courses can be recognised and added to their CILT membership qualifications.

The directory currently features 78 courses provided by 16 institutions and is updated with new courses across all transport and logistics subjects and modes.

The Professional Development Directory will be launched officially at the CILTA National Annual Awards for Excellence in Melbourne on Saturday.

The directory can be found here.
