TLISC unveils E-Scan at awards night
The Council has launched a flagship publication

The Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC) launched it Environmental Scan (E-Scan) at its awards ceremony in Melbourne last night.

TLISC’s flagship annual publication, E-Scan surveys the landscape of the industry.

"With the health of the economy dependent on efficient transport and logistics infrastructure, the industry needs to remain focused on developing a highly skilled workforce capable of adapting to change," TLISC CEO Robert Adams says

"Intelligence gathered by us remains a vital source of information for Government, Industry and key stakeholders so that the right policies and support can be developed to promote investment in skills and workforce development."

"For the first time, we have broken down each sector to show in a simple, graphically digestible form the issues facing each sector – logistics, road transport, aviation, rail, maritime and ports."

TLISC says the E-Scan was developed following extensive consultation with key stakeholders across the Industry and reveals some key challenges facing the industry:

  • Responding to rapid change and developments in supply chains
  • Navigating the workforce needs demanded by new integrated intermodal hubs.
  • Meetng the requirements of the unprecedented growth in online shopping
  • Finding innovative ways to keep our ageing workforce involved and encouraging young people to make careers in transport and logistics
  • Attracting a more demographically diverse workforce
  • Deployment of new technology
