SCLAA energy efficiency workshops kick off today

Events provide tools and information on reducing costs, in the warehouse and on the road

The Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) is rolling out its Energy Efficiency Workshops in the nation’s south-east, starting today in Melbourne.

The free workshops will be held in 22 regional and rural areas across Australia, plus all eight capital cities, over the next seven months.

The workshops aim at providing small-medium businesses (SMEs) that store and/or transport goods the tools and information to reduce their energy costs, in the warehouse and on the road.

“The SCLAA is creating an online interactive tool, which provides a four-step guide to identifying, evaluating and implementing energy saving opportunities,” the organisation says.

“The tool will step the SME through an energy saving calculator that covers transport, warehouse, cool rooms/freezers and materials handling and generates the opportunities and potential savings.

“The tool, which will be available online by the end of February will provide the ability to download fact sheets, how to guides, case studies, examples of suppliers and details on grants available to SMEs.

“During industry research and content development, it has become apparent that there are numerous significant energy saving opportunities that also lead to other monetary savings in the business including building insurance, wear and tear, hours worked plus opportunities for improving customer service.”

Most workshops will start at 7.30am and conclude by 10.30am and will also be available by webinar.
