Technology has a huge part to play when it comes to safety.

This year, Safety in Action will be held in conjunction with Melbourne Materials Handling at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre

It’s a must for safety managers and supervisors.

‘Safety In Action’ offers the most convenient and effective way to keep track of the latest products and services.

A sample of what will be exhibited is detailed below:

Visitors to the Electrodrive stand can check out equipment ranging from tugs, power trolleys, waste bin movers and ride-ons for industrial requirements to motorised bed-movers.

Flexible drives
Flexible Drive Agencies (FDA) is known for its broad range of mechanical and electromechanical products with applications across every key industry sectors.

On display at the show will be GO Light 360 degree revolving remote control lighting; Honeywell wireless remote switching systems; ECCO LED quality and robust work lamps; low speed vehicle warning systems; load restraint products for tautliners; chain ratchet binders; ute, truck and tray restraint systems; and manual remote valve actuator systems for oil, gas and sewage.

Free WorkHealth Checks

At the WorkHealth stand, free, quick and confidential WorkHealth checks will be on offer on all three days of Safety in Action. You can also sign up your workplace for the free checks at workhealth.vic.gov.au

The checks test for risk factors associated with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, two of the most common yet preventable chronic diseases, and take just 15 minutes. WorkHealth is an initiative by WorkSafe Victoria to reduce the impact of chronic disease in the Victorian workforce.

Take five

Safety information should always be a priority. The Tennyson Group stand will show its specialty – Take 5 Safety books – along with an array of other printed safety items including durable signage, safety tags and pre-start checklist books.

The Take 5 book allows holders to accurately and promptly report hazards in the workplace and complete a simple Risk Assessment, while also offering safety tips that are simple to follow.

Squeeze on carbon footprint

Miltek Waste Solutions will showcase a wide range of high quality compactors, which reduce the carbon footprint by turning cardboard, plastic, steel cans and EPS (polystyrene) into compressed waste bales.

At the Miltek stand, visitors will also learn how Miltek can convert the traditional waste disposal costs of businesses into income, by encouraging recycling.
Miltek uses a unique, air compressor driven method, or electro-mechanical for larger machines.

Diadora boot the right fit for Merv

Good work wear is essential along the supply chain. Made in Europe, and designed with trademark Italian style and flair, Italian Sports Brand Diadora is presenting a new Range of Utility Safety Boots that allow feet to breathe.

Merv Hughes, who played in Diadora gear during his spectacular cricketing career, will be at the Diadora Utility Safety Boots stand to engage with visitors interested in the ideal Safety footwear for the streets and worksites.

Safety wear

While on the subject of work wear, Huski is renowned for its high quality safety wear, outdoor workwear, reflective jackets and high visibility industrial workwear and uniforms.

At the Palazzi stand will be shown the Huski ARC rated waterproof jacket and pant, now available as stock service. The blaze jacket and flame pant are also flame retardant and anti-static.

Safe gas storage
The need for convenience and ease of access to high-pressure gas cylinders often contends with that for safe, reliable and secure storage in the workplace.

To meet these constraints, VISIONSafe has recently added the Australian-made Bottlechock, a unique cylinder restraint system to keep cylinders secure and protect staff, and valuable gauges and equipment.

The clamp maintains full contact to restrict horizontal and vertical movement, and holds different cylinder diameters.

The Bosbox stand will feature a new, tough 63A poly model as part of an expanded range of wall-mounted power distribution modules ideal for workshop or generator sets.

These heavy-duty powerhouses have IP66 rated enclosures and are available in standard configuration or customisable to requirements. Bosbox, an Australian-owned company, can also build special plugs, sockets switches at short notice.

Life saving lockouts

If the definition of safety is keeping people out of all dangerous situations, an effective safety padlock is crucial.

At the Master Lock stand, visitors can check out the innovative S31 safety padlock designed to fit smaller diameter lockout points.

Constructed from Zenex™ a durable non-conductive material, the Master Lock S31 incorporates a 4.76mm marine grade 316 stainless steel shackle that will function effectively in corrosive environments.

Weighing just 75g, the S31 is easy to carry and comes with a weather tough cover designed to keep out dust, dirt & grime.
