New Schenker-run supply chain for electrical brands

Schenker Australia to overhaul supply chain of electrical products manufacturer HBA under new deal

Schenker Australia has promised a sophisticated in-bound supply chain to electrical products manufacturer Hagemeyer Brands Australia (HBA) as part of a new partnership.

The logistics operator has been appointed as international freight forwarding and customs clearance partner for HBA, parent company of brands including Blanco, DeDietrich, Omega Altise, JVC, Omega and Smeg.

The contract includes in-bound transportation services for products from Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Singapore and Malaysia to various locations within Australia.

DB Schenker will import more than 4,000 TEUs via ocean freight and more than 30 tonnes via air freight.

HBA Chief Financial Officer Carl Bowdler says Schenker promises to simplify and improve in-bound transportation processes while delivering better control of inventory through improved visibility and KPI tracking.

“Using DB Schenker as a single source provider will boost efficiency across the different business units by enabling greater integration of our supply chain with our own internal processes,” he says.

Schenker will tailor-make a solution including electronic invoicing and freight documentation along with “comprehensive” vendor management, Australian CEO Ron Koehler says.

“We provide innovative transportation concepts and solutions which reduce costs and are more environmentally friendly at the same time, which is in line with HBA’s business principles,” he says.
