Plumbing parts maker welcomes more flexible DC

A leading plumbing parts manufacturer says its new Brisbane distribution centre provides a larger, more flexible storage space to enhance

A leading plumbing parts manufacturer says its new Brisbane distribution centre provides a larger, more flexible storage space to enhance its product distribution.

Philmac, Australia’s leading plastic pipe fittings and valves manufacturer and distributor of water management products, has invested in the future of its Queensland operations with the opening of the new warehouse and distribution centre.

Located 10km north of the Brisbane CBD in Virginia, the new 3700 square metre facility will further improve Philmac’s renowned customer service, the company claims.

General Manager Jason Mitchell says the distribution centre, which includes office, training and storage space and can hold more than 4500 pallets, demonstrates Philmac’s commitment to its Queensland customers.

“Given the expedient growth of the Philmac business, this extra capacity was of great importance when selecting a location and it will deliver an important boost to the number of product lines that we can offer our customers,” he says.

The warehouse was designed to cater for Philmac’s expanding product range, along with the joint distribution of Aquadux products – a leading distributor of plumbing and building products to the Australian market.

“We had to ensure that the warehouse was able to cope with more than 6000 different products of varying shapes,” National Distribution Manager Patrick Flood says.

“Our products range from micro-irrigation pieces through to five-metre lengths of large bore pipe, so the design of the new warehouse was of the upmost importance to ensure we could deliver even greater efficiency in all aspects of our operations.”

The Queensland site has been utilised since May, and will be officially opened in July.
