Linfox has unveiled its new $40 million beverage warehouse in Melbourne designed to support its partnership with Lion Dairy & Drinks.

Victorian Deputy Premier Peter Ryan officially opened the facility today, which is based at Laverton and is Linfox’s largest cold store site in the Asia Pacific.

Linfox Chairman Peter Fox says the company worked closely with Lion Diary & Drinks in the development of the site and to improve efficiency across the supply chain.

“The warehouse was designed with a 15-year window in mind but also allows for flexibility to accommodate changes in technology and in market structure,” Fox says.

There are 130 people who work at the warehouse with Linfox’s linehaul fleet distributing Lion’s brands.

“The warehouse provides an all-chilled 20,000 square metre facility that will support the national distribution of products such as cheeses, milk, yoghurts, fruit juices and more,” Ryan says.

“Victoria produces more than 60 percent of Australia’s milk and the creation of efficient links from the farm to the marketplace is a vital part of strengthening and growing the sector.”
