Linfox picks up fuel haulage work with BP in NSW at the expense of Cootes, which previously held the contract.
Linfox has inked a long-term fuel haulage deal with BP, taking on the work in New South Wales at the expense of troubled carrier Cootes Transport.
BP announced today Linfox will look after metro operations in Sydney and Newcastle for five years from April 1.
Cootes previously held the contract but was not shortlisted for the work when BP re-tendered it as part of a new strategy aimed at issuing fewer but larger long-term contracts.
“I am confident that this relationship with Linfox will provide BP and its business partners with best in class performance over the long-term,” BP Head of Terminals and Logistics Geoff Gruebner says.
Cootes’ failure to retain work with BP and Shell prompted parent firm McAleese to announce a restructure of the brand.
McAleese will sell 190 prime movers and 286 tankers as part of the restructure, and has set aside $13 million for redundancies.
BP is currently re-tendering work nationally, and NSW was the first jurisdiction to be dealt with.
