In the face of Australia’s worsening skilled truck driver shortage, Linfox is growing their own drivers and equipping them with the skills to help keep one of Australia’s largest logistics providers on the move.
The Linfox Driver Academy is now celebrating another new round of graduates from the program and recently held a ceremony at its Hazelmere site in Western Australia to mark the occasion.
Linfox Hazelmere is the site which the Academy is based out of, with licensing also held at the location.
The Academy supports people in obtaining their HR, HC and MC licences with the view of then hiring its graduates into a full or part-time driving role with the company.
Linfox President Human Resources Lauren Pemberton told Linfox Solutions the in-house Academy helps develop drivers to be safe and respected professionals in the field.
“I am proud of our Linfox Driver Academy for the important role it plays in helping out people discover their passion for the driving profession, and the important role we play in developing our people to be safe, professional and highly respected drivers,” Pemberton says.
The Linfox Driver Academy is open to anyone and everyone looking to either begin or progress their truck driving careers, with the Linfox website stating many of its drivers have also progressed to supervisory or management roles within the company.
Recent graduate Debbie Fissioli says the Linfox Driver Academy is key to providing future employment opportunities for those looking to forge a career in the transport and logistics sector.
“The Driver Academy is more than a training program,” Fissioli says. “It’s a gateway for our people to step into the driving profession or upgrade their licence while gaining invaluable on the job experience.
“It is about creating opportunities, empowering our teams and building the future of logistics together.”
