Constant research to improve and upgrade the performance of headlights is making night driving and road safety better, automotive lighting distributor Narva says.
Headlamp globes fitted to many vehicles as standard can be easily upgraded with a simple change-over to a range of new performance globes, with a performance globe available to suit every style of driving or driver preference.
George Davies, Narva marketing manager, says as well as improved filament technology, even the manufacture of the globes is different, with a ‘UV Cut process making them suitable for use in modern polycarbonate lenses.
“Performance globes offer an easy cost effective way of improving the light output of the headlamps, it is basically down to two main options of either more light volume or a whiter light which is easier on the eyes,” he says.
headlamp globes are measured in Kelvin (K) and Lumen (lm), where Kelvin represents the colour temperature of a globe (measured in degrees Kelvin) indicating how yellow, white or blue the light is.
By raising the colour temperature of a standard globe (3,000°K) the light starts to take on a whiter crisper appearance similar to that of daylight.
Lumen (lm) is a measure of the ‘total amount of volume’ of visible light emitted from the globe, so the higher the Lumen rating the more light the globe produces.
Davies says Narva offers a wide range of replacement globes in five different categories, depending on the needs and preferences of the driver.
