Lend Lease tasked with delivering bypass

Work on the Buangor Bypass in Victoria is due to start later this year.

The Buangor Bypass in Victoria is one step closer to completion with infrastructure company Lend Lease tasked with delivering the project.

A 15km section of road between Baufort and Buangor on the Western Highway will be widened as part of the $95 million project. Once complete, it is expected to improve travel times and safety.

The Western Highway is one of the Victoria’s busiest and plays a significant role for interstate freight, serving trade and farming, grain production, regional tourism and manufacturing.

“The investment delivers key safety benefits for Western Highway road users with the duplication from Ballarat to Buangor and the Buangor Bypass,” Victorian Premier Denis Napthine says.

“It also provides important planning work for the future duplication from Buangor to Stawell.”

Works are due to start later this year and will see the construction of an additional carriageway, which will result in two lanes in each direction separated by a centre median.

There will also be a separated interchange at Eurambeen-Streatham Road, new bridges at Fiery Creek, bridges over Charleycombe Creek and Middle Creek.
