New specialist vans are set to improve TNT Express’s service to mining companies in Western Australia.
Fifty Volkswagen Crafter vans custom-fitted with sleeper cabs, GPS tracking and satellite phones will be added to the company’s fleet used to pick up and deliver urgent packages to mine sites.
The vans are capable of carrying weight up to 1.3 tonnes and can also transport heavy mechanical parts for repairing large mining vehicles, TNT says.
“These new vans represent an optimal freight solution for the region,” the company’s Express Director of Sales, Mark Hamilton, says.
The vans will be staffed by two drivers at all times, with the GPS allowing monitoring to track each vehicle’s movements.
