German braking system manufacturer Knorr-Bremse reinforced its position as one of the top suppliers of brake units for heavy transport with strong growth during 2008.
According to figures released by the company, its sales grew worldwide by six percent, despite the economic downturn in the last quarter of the year.
Australia and Asia featured prominently in the good result, with a 14 percent jump over the 2007 figure, lifting sales by 46 million Euros, predominantly through orders from China.
While the economic downturn is a cause for concern, as heavy vehicle manufacturers cut production, the full effect is difficult to predict, says a company spokesperson, but it may lead to a drop compared to 2008
