Keys handed over to new firefighting trucks

A Type 3 Urban Pumper and Urban Water Tanker have been added to Maryborough Fire and Rescue Station’s fleet of firefighting trucks

Two new firefighting trucks have been procured for Queensland’s Maryborough Division.

A Type 3 Urban Pumper and Urban Water Tanker have been delivered to the fire station and is the latest in a long line of upgrades for the Maryborough Fire and Rescue Station. The station’s capacity was recently upgraded to include 24-hour crewing and the addition of 12 new permanent frontline firefighting crew.

The Type 3 is fitted with a 1500-litre water tank attached to a 4500 litre-per-minute pump and foam injection system, while the Urban Water Tanker boasts a 9000-litre capacity and a compressed air foam system for more effective and efficient water use.

The tanker also makes use of a cabin deluge system which sprays water around the vehicle to help protect firefighters from truck burnover.

The new firefighting trucks cost a combined $1.75 million. Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders says the funding is a worthwhile investment into the safety of his constituents and the firefighters themselves.

“The $1.75 million invested by the Miles Labor government in new appliances for Maryborough will help make our firefighters safer while doing their lifesaving work,” Saunders says.

“Handing over the keys to the new appliances follows the upgrade of Maryborough Fire and Rescue Station to 24-hour operation with 12 extra firefighting positions.

“Firefighters in the Maryborough Division do an amazing job on the frontline responding to emergencies and keeping our community safe.

“Investment in the Maryborough Division delivers peace-of-mind for the community and ensures firefighters have the right tools for the job.”
