Texas-based engineering company KBR will manage the largest ever transport planning study commissioned in South Australia.
The project is the brain-child of South Australia’s Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI).
It involves the execution, concept planning and design, environmental impact assessment and stakeholder consultation for the upgrade of South Road, a major arterial road in Adelaide.
A key part of DTEI’s strategy to deliver a free-flowing north-south transport corridor, the project aims to eliminate traffic lights on a 9km stretch between the Gallipoli Underpass at Anzac Highway to the planned South Road Superway at Regency Park.
The project is also aligned with the state’s 30 Year Plan for Greater Adelaide.
KBR’s win follows the successful delivery of similar major transport project planning studies by the company for DTEI in South Australia over the past five years.
