WA purchase in line with buyer’s bulk minerals haulage and logistics strategy
Bulk operator Kalari has given a vote of confidence to the Western Australian mining haulage sector with the purchase of Port Hedland’s Bullbuck Transport.
The acquisition for an undisclosed sum brings with it a total of 40 specialised quad road trains to the Kalari fleet by mid-year, up from 32 presently.
Kalari will also gain workshop, accommodation and depot facilities, all Bullbuck’s current employees who wish to transfer, and relationships with new customers.
“The acquisition of the Bullbuck operations in Port Hedland is pivotal in Kalari’s progression as a key player in the specialised bulk logistics space,” Kalari Managing Director Peter O’Shannessy states.
“The quality of the business and the people involved is a credit to the Buckley family and provides Kalari with an ideal start in the region.
“Kalari will be focused on building on the excellent safety and customer service performance demonstrated.”
The company says the acquisition is consistent with its strategy to grow the specialised contracted bulk logistics business in the resources sector.
Kalari’s current WA operations in WA are at Geraldton in the Mid-West and Rockingham south of Perth.
Bullbuck gained a national profile recently, with former owner Graham Buckley featuring in the carbon tax debate and the company a finalist in the TruckSafe John Kelly Memorial Award in 2011 for tis “commitment to safety and training”.
