Chinese truck manufacturer JAC has been given approval to enter into a joint venture with American truck and engine maker Navistar International.
The new partnership, just approved by Chinese authorities, will give JAC access to Navistar’s Euro 4 and Euro 5 engine technology.
Navistar President Troy Clarke has labelled the partnership “a significant step” in Navistar’s plan to grow globally.
“Consistent with our strategy, this partnership will leverage the assets and capabilities of both companies,” he says.
“We recognise the importance of the Chinese market and our joint venture with a strong partner such as JAC enables us to establish an immediate presence in China as we grow our business in the Asia Pacific region.”
The joint venture is expected to expand opportunities for JAC’s light, medium and heavy duty vehicles on the global export market.
