Isuzu turns into ultimate coffee machine

Gerry Faulkner brews a winner by customising an Isuzu truck to create the ultimate coffee machine

December 21, 2010

The growth in demand for real coffee at outdoor events can be a real problem when there is only one machine serving hundreds of customers, leading to long delays.

To overcome this problem Warrnambool-based operator Gerry Faulkner designed a mobile coffee vending service with two espresso machines, fitted to an Isuzu NNR 200 truck.

Faulkner chose a crew-cab configuration capable of carrying the whole staff into events, as well as being able to be driven by Faulkner or his wife Genevieve.

The body is the result of many months of designing and planning by Faulkner, using a steel frame body clad with aluminium panels, concealing a stainless steel work area, two espresso machines and grinders, blenders, a pair of fridges with 300 litres of storage, as well as on-board fresh and gray water tanks.

Faulkner also specified a generator and an LCD television, which allows corporate logos or event-themed videos to be played.

The Little Black Truck coffee Co will be in action throughout summer at a number of outdoor events and festivals around Victoria.
