The Queensland Trucking Association as released further advice from the Department of Transport and Main Roads – Heavy Vehicles Unit as Tropical Cyclone Sean continues to sit off the coast of south-east Queensland.
Landfall has now been further delayed until Saturday morning, however inclement weather conditions caused by the system are smashed the coast, with extensive wind and rain already causing damage and mass power outages.
“TMR recommends that heavy vehicle operators drive to the conditions, as road conditions in South East Queensland (SEQ) are expected to deteriorate today, with increasing rainfall and stronger winds,” the QTA says.
“Road freight operators needing to travel to central or Northern Queensland from Southern States should use the Inland Freight Route (Mungindi to Charters Towers), which remains open.
“Safety remains our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the well-being of all heavy vehicle operators. Please stay informed of weather updates and road conditions before commencing travel.
“We are continuously monitoring, assessing and reviewing our roads, bridges and culverts across Queensland. Conditions can change quickly, particularly due to weather. Restrictions are implemented to maintain ongoing safety for all road users.”
Live traffic updates are available here, or operators can call 13 19 40 to receive real-time traffic reports or report and incident.
