Average diesel prices rose in the week ended June 7, according to terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum.
The AIP data is based on information provided by BP Australia, Caltex, Shell Australia and ExxonMobil.
Reflecting international rises the previous week, prices in all states excluding Darwin hovered around the 110 cents per litre mark until Friday when prices in all states jumped by almost 3 cents.
Melbourne’s diesel continued to be the cheapest in the country, averaging 110.3 cents for the week, up 1.1 cents from the previous week.
It was slightly cheaper than Brisbane, where the average prices at the pumps finished at 110.4 cents a litre, with Sydney’s price averaging 110.7 at the week’s end.
Darwin was the most expensive with an average diesel price of 114.8cents, which was 3.7 cents higher than the Perth price of 111.1 cents a litre.
