Australia’s only research institute dedicated to the study of supply chain management and logistics has received international accreditation for its Diploma of Logistics course and a national award for its research.

Victoria University’s Institute for Supply Chain and Logistics – formerly the Institute for Logistics and Supply Chain Management – received accreditation for its Diploma of Logistic course from the UK-based Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the leading international professional body in the field.

ISCL Director Dr Hermione Parsons says the recognition means graduates from the course will receive international recognition for their qualification, enabling a seamless transition to further study or work overseas.

“Our courses are all accredited within Australia, and this acknowledgement from overseas is a further boost to our graduates,” he says.

The Institute has fine-tuned its suite of courses over the past 12 months and offers programs from certificate level in vocational education through to doctoral programs in higher education.

“In addition to our award courses, we also offer a range of tailored short courses providing development opportunities for professionals in the supply chain field,” Parsons says.

The Institute’s research program covers a broad range of activities in the private and public sector.

A recent container freight movement study conducted by the Institute in collaboration with Integrated Management Information Systems for the Port of Melbourne Corporation and the Victorian Government’s Department of Transport and the Essential Services Commission received a national university research award – the 2010 Business-Higher Education Round Table Award in the category of Best Regional Focus Collaboration.

The national research award and the international accreditation will be celebrated at a function at the University today.
