Major Queensland freight route disruptions

New traffic updates have been issued for popular Queensland roads

Major Queensland freight route disruptions
More Queensland roads are being flooded today

Transport and Main Roads Queensland has issued flood and road updates for many major freight routes throughout the state as wild weather continues to close highways.

While more rain continues to hit Queensland, the transport body has had to issue road closure notices and warnings to transport operators looking to pass through key freight routes in the state.

This morning, Transport and Main Roads announced that the Warrego Highway was closed to all traffic between Forest Hill Fernvale Road and Maroney Road, as widespread flash flooding resulted in the freight route being cut by floodwater at Glenore Grove.

Sections of the often-used Bruce Highway have also flooded as the rain blankets most of the north-east coast.

Transport and Main Roads Queensland says the Bruce Highway is flooded north of Gin Gin and is closed to all traffic at Tararan Creek.

Furthermore, sections of the Bruce Highway up through Gympie on both the north and south side of the town may also be closed due to the Mary River flooding at Normanby Bridge.

Transport and Main Roads Queensland is urging all drivers and operators to reconsider plans and routes to travel through these affected areas, while also saying operators should think about alternative stopping points north and south of Gympie.

Transport centres in Toowong, Ipswich and Toowoomba city are also closed today, while more severe rain storm warnings for Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba and beyond indicates roads may remain flooded for multiple days.
