ACFS lauds Gallagher managerial promotion

Busy period sees company also gain Glenlee intermodal site in NSW

ACFS lauds Gallagher managerial promotion
Stephen Galagher

Wharf carrier ACFS has hailed the appointment of Stephen Gallagher as its new Perth transport and depot manager.

The move is seen as significant within the company due to it representing the internal progression of a long-term staff member.

The company noted Gallagher joined ACFS as day-shift fleet allocator in August 2016.

"Stephen very quickly acquired detailed knowledge of the customer base, drivers and equipment," it said.

"This became invaluable in his growth and success, which has seen him promoted into a new role.

Gallagher started his transport career in Glasgow in 1987 as a transport clerk and grew his industry knowledge with companies such as BOC Gas in the UK.

After moving to Australia in 2008, he continued his transport career with various Australian players such as P&O, Toll, WA Freight Group and now ACFS.

How ACFS acquired an IPS Logistics operation, here

It comes after ACFS recently expanded its NSW intermodal container yard by 2,000 TEU with a leasehold agreement for the Glenlee intermodal site in South West Sydney – some 62km from Port Botany.

ACFS took possession of the property on September 3 and started operation effective immediately.

"This exciting strategic development delivers the final piece of the ACFS Zone strategy in Sydney Metro, with Facilities at Port Botany, Enfield (30km from the Port) and the iconic St Marys (60km from the Port) complimenting the three outer western Sydney ACFS 3PL Warehouse," it said.

"Ideally located in the South west of Sydney, the new intermodal facility will service the industrial precincts such as Ingleburn, Minto, Prestons, Hoxton Park and the upcoming Badgerys Creek region.

"It will also have a very strong focus as a regional export hub, providing logistical solutions for exporters with a large warehousing footprint planned for the site beyond the initial lease area.

"This will complement the ACFS Intermodal at St Marys (100,000sqm stage 1) which will focus on the North West of Sydney."
