New Healthy Heads mobile app launched

Focus on ease of access to information, tools and support

The next phase of the Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds (HHTS) campaign to boost industry mental health has seen the launch of a mobile app to promote better access to wellbeing support across the Australian supply-chain workforce.

The foundation’s Healthy Heads app recognises that nearly 95% of all road freight operators are small businesses and aims to improve ease of access to information, tools, and support when it comes to individual outcomes.

With the support of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), in its first phase of development, the Healthy Heads App includes features such as:

  • a self-check-in quiz to help increase self-awareness
  • access to resources to create greater resilience
  • tools to help better managing day-to-day life
  • access to urgent support services.

“Through focus groups and user testing, with representatives from across the sector, we found a demand for easy to access, relevant information, particularly relating to starting a conversation and improving diet and physical wellbeing,” HHTS CEO Naomi Frauenfelder said.

“The App has a strong linkage to our recently launched National Mental Health and Wellbeing Roadmap, reinforcing the steps that can be taken to address some of the key industry mental health risk factors.

“We are excited to provide the industry with this tool, but more importantly, will continue to build out additional capabilities within the App over the coming months.

“With a strong focus towards a function that allows users to rate facilities including highway rest stops.”

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said the app could not have come at a more critical time for the heavy vehicle industry.

“The Healthy Heads App is another step in the right direction to support the mental health and physical wellbeing of everyone in the industry, particularly as we navigate through the current challenges,” Petroccitto said.

“I congratulate HHTS on the delivery of the App and encourage everyone in the industry to download it and use it regularly.

“Together, we’ll continue to support one another and look out for those who may be doing it tough—that’s what our industry has always done, and that’s what we’ll continue to do.”

The Healthy Heads App is freely available for Android or Apple devices.
