Scully RSV and ATR in reefer rental merger

Refrigerated supply chain acquisition sees rivals join forces

Refrigerated truck rental consolidation sees private equity-backed Scully RSV Group swallow Australian Trailer Rentals (ATR).

The acquisition combines the two locally owned and operated businesses to deliver a large-scale refrigerated fleets from vans through to full 34-pallet B-double combinations that will operate under the Scully RSV brand, a statement notes.

Both deliver short- and long-term refrigerated hire solutions to the refrigerated supply chain sector, with the acquisition bringing together “a significant current customer base” of food and beverage operators and logistics suppliers, enabling new customers access to a rapidly growing fleet of refrigerated vans through to B-double refrigerated trailers.

Scully RSV also offers new and used truck sales available for 1-12 tonne and up to 14-pallet capacity, with both companies also offering an extensive servicing division and asset finance options.

Cold storage has been a hotbed of acquisitions activity in recent years

“I am encouraged by the shared values of the organisation and the quality of people now part of our family,” Scully RSV general manager Cameron Hogg says.

“As we continue to put the needs of the customer at the forefront and build upon the exceptional teams behind both brands, we position ourselves even stronger in delivering what we have always stood for in our values.”

Founders Damien Scully of Scully RSV and Peter Dinicol of ATR share more than 50 years’ industry experience.

Scully founded the company in 1993 and is now a board member of the firm.

“I am proud to build up on the work the team and I have done over the last 30 years in bringing Australian Trailer Rentals into the Scully RSV Group, continuing our focus on quality manufacturing and now combined with an exceptional service and fleet offering,” he says.

Dinicol founded ATR in 1998 and, as CEO, has grown the company to be a leading supplier of refrigerated trailer rentals, ranging from 14 pallet Bogie-axle trailers to full 34-pallet B-double combinations.

“Australian Trailer Rentals takes great pride in offering flexible rental trailer solutions alongside a comprehensive servicing program designed to protect our client goods,” he says.

“Joining Scully RSV in offering this solution to market whilst enabling our customers to access their full fleet range, brings the best of the supply chain offering through two great companies.”

Though the sum is undisclosed by the parties, reports indicate the deal was worth $40 million, backed by private equity firm and Scully parent Redwood North.
