TNT and FedEx integration finalises in Australia

TNT swallowed into overarching FedEx Express entity

FedEx has all but closed the TNT Express chapter in Australia, with the two integrating into one company called FedEx Express Australia Pty Ltd.

The more than four-year process is part of a wider global integration between the two companies after the American giant bought the Dutch-owned TNT Express in 2016.

FedEx Express Australasia vice president Peter Langley says the transformation as a new chapter in the story for both FedEx and TNT brands.

“TNT has always had a strong presence domestically in Australia and FedEx is well known as an international service provider.

“Customers are already benefitting from the strength of the combined entity with expanded service offerings and strong connectivity to meet both the domestic and international needs of Australian businesses including small and medium enterprises (SMEs).”

Langley outlines the entity’s objective as providing global access and increased domestic reach for Australian businesses.

“This coming together means we can continue to provide increased access for Australian SMEs which make up 61 per cent of all exporters in the country and support them to reach out to new international markets.

“Even with the challenges of Covid-19, the number of exporters continues to increase and is up 7 per cent year-on-year, driven by an 11 per cent growth in small exporters.

“We’re now in a better position than ever to support Australian SMEs in their business recovery efforts as we move forward post the pandemic disruption.”

The product and service portfolios for FedEx and TNT will remain unchanged and there will also be no change to customers’ existing FedEx or TNT accounts, the company notes.

FedEx also launched a Logistics arm here in 2019 on the back of its purchase of Mantion in 2018.
