ACFS acquires Kerry Logistics Adelaide arm

Tzaneros-led operation adds to gradual SA Kerry takeover it started in 2017

Australian Container Freight Services (ACFS) Port Logistics has swallowed Kerry Logistics’ warehousing and transport business in Adelaide.

ACFS adds another piece of Kerry’s South Australian puzzle following its 2017 purchase of its MT Park empty container depot operations, with the most recent transaction to be effective July 6, 2020.

“Expansion in the Adelaide market has been a strategic focus area for ACFS in recent years, and we have patiently awaited the right acquisition opportunity whilst furthering the capability of our existing operation and building a solid foundation that is capable of comfortably managing strong growth be it organic or via M&A,” ACFS CEO Arthur Tzaneros say.

“Kerry’s business and customer base perfectly complements ACFS’s strength in providing warehousing and transport solutions via the most efficient and lowest cost operating model.”

Tzaneros says the company intends to deploy its fleet of high productivity vehicles there and is complementing the acquisition with a huge Vawdrey order.

The port operator’s aggressive growth strategy sees its strategically located transport and warehousing assets nationally comprise a warehousing footprint of 200,000+ square metres and an additional 900,000sqm of yard capacity, providing multi-modal (road and rail) offerings, storage, empty parks, intermodal terminals, quarantine capabilities and customs bond facilities.

“In today’s uncertain economic environment, investing in growth is done via strategic moves and whilst the industry and the broader domestic and global economy are being cautious, ACFS are driven to continue to invest in the right opportunities that will provide all our current and future customers a national solution that is highly capable of meeting their evolving needs,” Tzaneros says.
