Liddle becomes the new iMOVE chair
Gary Liddle

Transport research centre iMOVE has a new leader at the helm, with Gary Liddle announced the newly elected chair.

Liddle has been an iMOVE director since 2017 and is a member of the audit and risk committee.

His transport career spans more than 40 years at VicRoads, and he was also director at Roads Australia and chair at Austroads.

"His extensive background in transportation leadership and research brings to the Board a deep understanding of the transport and mobility industry, and its interactions with the R&D community," the centre notes.

"We look forward to his leadership through the next years of iMOVE’s life as we continue to work with our participants to expand the project portfolio, and also as we embrace new partnerships."

His appointment reflects a board shake-up following the retirement of former chair Ian Murray and director Dirk Van de Meerssche.

"We would like to acknowledge the significant contribution of Mr Murray, who played an important leadership role as we set up the company and launched our project portfolio," iMOVE adds.

"We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future.

"Likewise, Mr Van de Meerssche has provided important advice and support during iMOVE’s formative years, and we would like to thank him for his dedication to the company during that time. We wish him all the best in his retirement."

Also joining the board are Tom Walker, senior vice president and managing director Asia Pacific at Cubic Transportation Systems, and Professor Majid Sarvi from the University of Melbourne.

"Mr Walker and Prof. Sarvi bring valuable expertise to the board in their respective areas of business and research and we look forward to working with them.

"It’s an incredibly energising time to be working in the middle of the transport and mobility industry.

"We see burgeoning activity and potential in many different areas, and the opportunities evolve daily.

"We look forward to working with all directors in this next exciting phase of the company’s life and congratulate once more our new chair, and all incoming and re-elected directors."
