Martin to lead law firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice

Former Toll legal head goes to Norton White
Adam Martin

Norton White has bolstered its transport and logistics stocks with former Toll Group legal boss Adam Martin joining the transport-focused Sydney law firm.

Formerly Toll’s chief legal officer, Martin leads the firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice and will also contribute to future strategic direction.

Martin, an expert in logistics, transport and international trade law, was responsible for overseeing and managing the legal aspects of Toll Group’s global expansion, including mergers and acquisitions and new-entity establishments.

Along with his former company’s broad footprint across the transport modes, Martin has significant trucking experience, having been the sole in-house lawyer at Finemore Holdings before its purchase by Toll.

Following the takeover, he was part of Toll’s growth through the past two decades that resulted in his being responsible for a team of 30 lawyers.

Martin will look forward deals not unlike Qube’s Chalmers takeover, here

"Norton White act for blue chip clients and Adam’s joining the practice enhances the knowledge and experience we can offer them," Norton White senior partner Mark Mackrell says.

"It is not so much a new direction for the firm but the opportunity to offer a greater depth of expertise.

"Adam has been involved in some of the largest mergers and acquisitions in the transport and logistics sector in this part of the world and provides the level of expertise one would generally find only at the top tier or international firms.

"It is a perfect fit for Norton White’s practice model which has always been to provide the quality of services associated with large international firms, without the overheads associated with larger firms."
